Taproot celebrates first Dividend Day as an Employee Ownership Trust

Employees across British Columbia, Alberta and Ontario share in the success they help create

LANGLEY, B.C., September 8, 2026 — Taproot Community Support Services is celebrating its first Dividend Day as an Employee Ownership Trust, marking an important milestone in the organization’s employee ownership journey.

On September 8, eligible Taproot employees across British Columbia, Alberta and Ontario received their first dividend cheques. Teams gathered in workplaces across the organization to celebrate the occasion together.

Dividend Day is a tangible reflection of employee ownership. It recognizes the role employees play in Taproot’s success and allows them to share in the value they help create.

“Employee ownership gives the people who contribute to Taproot’s work every day a meaningful stake in our future. Our first Dividend Day recognizes their contribution and celebrates what we are building together,” said Mike Fotheringham, Chief Executive Officer of Taproot Community Support Services.

Taproot became 100 per cent employee-owned through an Employee Ownership Trust. Under this model, the company is held in trust for the benefit of its employees, supporting long-term employee ownership while allowing Taproot to continue investing in the people, programs and communities it serves.

The celebration comes as Taproot prepares for another employee ownership milestone: its first Trustee election. Employee-owners will vote to select a Trustee who will help protect the purpose of the Trust and represent the interests of employee beneficiaries.
